Akira is a graduate of University of Tokyo (1970), of Paris faculty of law (Ph. D., 1980) and of Harvard Law School (LLM, 1982).

Akira has been a member of the Paris bar since 1992 after having belonged to Tokyo bar since 1973 and to the New-York bar since 1983. He has been a partner of Nagashima & Hashimoto in Tokyo since 1984.

He has been a member of Board of Directors of Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in France since 2000. He is also member of Board of Directors of Japanese Nationals Association (Nihonjin-kai) and of French Japanese Cultural Institute.
